New Lodge Arts Young Leaders Achieve their OCN

A group of young leaders (aged 14-17 years), have recently completed their OCN qualification, Leadership in Youth Work OCN (Level 2). This qualification was delivered over around 16 sessions, with all young people committing fully both in and out of sessions. In total the young people contributed at least 40 hours work to this. The content of the qualification focused on the basics of youth work, communication and teaching young people how to plan and deliver a youth work session.

Up to 4,000 revellers - led by Willy Wonka and his trusty Oompa Loompas - are set to flock to Belfast's Alexandra Park this month to participate for the annual North Belfast Lantern Parade which is this year celebrating the work of Roald Dahl.

Thomas Devlin Foundation Bursary

New Lodge Arts were delighted to secure funding from the Thomas Devlin Foundation to support Aoibheann Henry to complete Titanic Creative Management Summer Prosthetic and Special FX course. 

The Thomas Devlin Foundation which is managed by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, has now given out £70,000 in bursaries since it was set up by Penny Holloway and Jim Devlin in 2006 in memory of their son Thomas who was tragically killed the previous year.

Spring Awakening Festival

Alexandra Park was a ‘hive’ of activity this Easter thanks to a unique cross-community festival themed around the life of bees.

 

Led by schools and community groups from across North Belfast, children from schools such as St Patrick’s and Seaview PS have been created working with the local artists to design and construct giant bees, gigantic flowers, bee costumes and bee houses.
