Summer Arts Academy

For this year’s Summer Arts Academy, New Lodge Arts were delighted to welcome Youth Music Theatre UK to the New Lodge to deliver a week long musical theatre project. Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT:UK) is the leading UK based musical theatre company for young people. Previous participants include Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.
Participants took part in a range of singing, acting and dance classes with a team of highly skilled artists during a week long programme held in the North Queen Street Community Centre.
The participants worked towards a performance in the Duncairn Arts & Cultural Centre on Friday 14th August 2015. Family and friends were invited along to see the fantastic showcase of Teenage Dreams. The script and songs were devised during the week and it was a high quality, energetic performance by the 20 young people.
Anne Delaney, Arts Programme & Operations Manager said ‘This was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to work with top level musical theatre tutors and the quality of the performance was testament to the hard work and commitment of the team throughout the week. We would love to continue this relationship with Youth Music Theatre UK and bring them back in the future’.
