Improbattle - Holland

Improbattle

Holland

7th-13th July 2014

A group of young adults from New Lodge Arts recently went to Meppel, Holland to take part in an international improvised theatre project. The project involved groups from 5 other countries from across Europe; France, Germany, Latvia, Holland & Sweden. The project brought together 54 young adults and their leaders. The group visited local people in their homes, businesses and on the street to interview them about their lives and find out their stories and together they comprised pieces of improvised theatre using the people of Meppel’s stories. The group performed a number of times in front of different audiences, each time getting a great reception. Local newspapers also published a piece about this. The New Lodge Arts participants had an excellent time meeting people from different cultures and also learned a lot about improvised theatre. We hope to take part in more international projects like this in the future or maybe even host one here in Belfast one day.
